Welcome, friends!
There are two types of resources available on this site:
- General homeschool help, including:
- Information on Washington’s laws
- Ideas and practical tips to help you through the planning, scheduling, record keeping, and assessment process
- Tips and tricks to help you keep life manageable, AND
- Our Character Core Curriculum, which is the curriculum I have developed over a number of years for our family.
- What it uses:
- High quality/high impact picture books
- Music, art, video, poetry, and
- The Bible (primarily the Proverbs and Jesus’s teachings)
- What it covers:
- Geography: Annual “travel” through all the countries of the world
- Social studies: Introductions and opportunities to discuss and revisit, as your kids grow, a plethora of “social topics”
- Science: Introduction to ideas in a variety of the sciences
- History: An annual historical overview as well as further study about a number of historical events
- Primary purpose:
- To teach an extensive character vocabulary. I believe it is critically important to develop a family “character language” so that you are able to engage in meaningful conversations about values, expectations, questions, and observations as you and your children explore life together.
- Format:
- An intentionally minimal, open-ended framework that invites you and your students to make discoveries and find connections.
- What it uses:
Come look around, explore, and feel free to use whatever is of interest to you!
And feel free to add any comments or questions you may have. It may take me some time to respond but I look forward to your feedback!
